Posted - 14 Apr 2006 : 11:27:41 I'm sure lots of you would like to show phtos of whatever you're discussing on the forum. I don't know whether this forum software supports pictures and if it does I don't know how to set it up.
So what I'm going to do is create a website just for forum pictures. All you have to do is email me your pictures at david@oldsofas.com and I will upload them onto the website and put the web address on the forum so that users can visit the site and see them. www.learnupholstery.co.uk will be the website and I'm quite happy to create individual pages for users. Please go easy on me to start with - it's not a great deal of work to process a picture and paste it into a webpage, but to do 10 or 20 is. Also please don't send pictures the size of billboards, I know it's easy to take a photo with your digital camera and fire it straight down the superhighway without reducing it's size and resolution, but you'll be making my life easier if you do take the time to make it a little smaller. We get hundreds of emails a day and huge high resolution photos cause blockages.
So there you go, it will take a few days to get www.learnupholstery.co.uk designed for the task, but you can send pictures whenever you like to david@oldsofas.com and I'll get it working as soon as possible.

Posted - 24 May 2006 : 16:32:37 That's very kind of you Sue, but I'm not the sort of man who can rest until he's righted wrongs. Normal service is resumed - retune your browsers and you will find all the pages that were on www.learnupholstery.co.uk are now prefixed with www.oldsofas.com, the only one that is modified is forumlinks.html rather than links.html because oldsofas already had a links page (yawn - apologies for getting technical) Anyway, hold on to your hats and have a go at these -www.oldsofas.com/suedixon.html www.oldsofas.com/jean.html www.oldsofas.com/forumlinks.html www.oldsofas.com/forum.html you get the idea, if I make a page for you them the URL from now on will be www.oldsosofas.com/yourusername.html .
Anyway, must dash, I have hoovering and cooking and washing up to do - oh yes and I'm sure I missed a cobweb when I cleaned the downstairs loo etc etc.... |

Posted - 23 May 2006 : 23:00:51 Well - perhaps you'd also like to wear sack cloth and ashes and whip yourself with birch sticks three times a day! Stop it right now - it's not a problem - at all - OK? Sue D |

Posted - 23 May 2006 : 15:54:52 Apologies to Jean and Sue Dixon I have 'lost' www.learnupholstery.co.uk . 'Lost' isn't quite true because we still own the URL, but it's all a bit embarassing and involves incompetence on my part so I'm not willing to discuss it. Suffice it to say I owe everyone who trusted me with their photos an apology, your trust has been misplaced - I'm an idiot.
If you can send me the photos again I'll post them on the oldsofas site and we'll carry on as if nothing has happened - but the above links no longer work.
Thanks D |

Posted - 16 Apr 2006 : 19:21:58 I'm ashamed to say my score beats your's! 46,450 can only indicate either a misspent youth or a misspent coffee break - or both!
Hello, my name's Jean and I'm a space invaders addict... |

Posted - 16 Apr 2006 : 14:39:30 I'm up to 18,960 260th best score - worldwide I like to think - I knew those days in the sports club swigging halves of Stella, eating beef and onion crisps, listening to Breakfast in America and staring wildeyed at the lttle green aliens marching everfaster would serve me well a quarter of a century later. |

Posted - 15 Apr 2006 : 19:47:12 Mind???? I'm flattered! I think a photo page is an excellent idea David. I'm longing to see other people's work, ideas and creations. I'm not sure my site is a very good example though! My son set it up as a (paid!) project and I had to fill it. As a result the programme is brilliant, easy to use and professional and the content very amateur! I've got more projects on the go and will post them in due course. However, the workshop is about to be taken over for Max's (husband) 50th birthday party in two weeks. Hopefully it will be back to normal quickly as I have work coming in from one woman who keeps finding more rooms (with chairs) in her chateau!
I can recommend Max's website though (I won't post it here as it's not the place but it's on mine as a link under GHR) and also for any retro pub game enthusiasts you can find the old space invaders on paladone.com - enormous fun but I'm sure Max is about to break my spacebar!

Posted - 14 Apr 2006 : 17:12:43 There we go, that didn't take long. I've set up www.learnupholstery.co.uk as the place where I'll post all your pictures so that other members can see them and then come back to this forum to discuss or comment on them. I've also put a members links page on there so that members can send me links to paste up there for other members. I don't care what they are - your personal webpages or just links to sites you want to share with others. As there are none on there at the moment I think I'll go and find Jean's and get the ball rolling - hope you don't mind Jean?
So, for the avoidance of doubt, if you want to show other members a picture of your latest project or whatever, email the picture to david@oldsofas.com and I'll make a page for you in www.learnupholstery.co.uk and put your picture on it, I'll then paste the link to that page under the relevant contribution on the forum so that when other members have read your query or question they can click on the link and look at your picture.
Let me know if you have any other ideas for the forum website.
