I know we commented some time ago about the prices of complete rubbish on Ebay - I think one of the conclusions was that money laundering must be behind some of this activity. I am now convinced that folk out there are compeltely and uttlerly barmy. Follow this link to see what I mean http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200023683613&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=010
Who on earth would pay just over £485 for a wreck like this - Gilows or no Gillows Is it me? as they say? Sue D

Well the buyer has their own ebay shop - vintage 57 - and if you look at the prices she is selling stuff for on there then it may explain why she paid so much. Looking at her previous purchases shes's made a steal on a vitorian settee so it must be swings and roundabouts eh?
Still wouldn't pay that myself though! Sue M |

Couldn't agree more - coincidentally we bid £450 on that sofa - not our own money, it was on behalf of a customer - so we took great delight in making a dealer pay 4 times as much as they should have done. Of course we buy wrecks, but this Gillows thing at any price is a risky one, bow front, broken leg and in the sort of condition that could hide all sorts of frame probelms. Pierra999 beat our customer to a sofa last week and bid us up to paying more than we wanted to on a 7' chesterfield the day before this Gillows sofa - either more money than sense or one of these annoying people who seem to be able to sell rubbish for several times its value to people a few more rungs up the stupid-rich ladder.
We, on the other hand, attract the intelligent tight customer - wealthy, bright and personable with an eye for a bargain and, most annoyingly, generally younger than us!
I'm off to double our prices and see can catch some rich thickies. |

| When you've found a way of finding these rich thickies - then please pass the technique on! |

interesting things you've been bidding on David and what a steal that sofa from Battle! Did you visit the old haunts whilst you were over there? I love the countryside all around Perthshire, but sure do miss the walks by the sea, don't miss all the traffic and the bustle though! Oh well off to work, trying to get something done for myself - ha ha - at this rate will have to ask the rivals to do it for me! BTW the tools arrived at the college for my classes and guess what - they've lost them! typical Sue |

| Clearly we are doing it all wrong. We need to buy a half-way decent sofa and turn it into a wreck. Less bother, less tendinitis, no hassle about the kids/husband going near it with the coffee and more money. Dare you! |

| This morning we woke up to a second chance offer on the Gillows sofa - for some reason Pierro999 and the bidder below them don't want it - all very strange! |

Perth theatre want me to upholster a wing chair - then pull the stuffing out of it for a Jekyll and Hyde play! |

Be careful about Ebay second chance offers - I've just had my Ebay account hijacked. Someone 'took me over' and tried to sell a car in my name. Luckily Ebay were quick to spot something wrong and froze my account. Second chance offers on things that are not actually for sale is the other big scam. But I'm sure no one here is going to be duped - we're all too intelligent (as opposed to stupid rich!) |

Had my ebay account hijacked too and ebay spotted it as soon as it happened, I never reply to any emails supposedly sent out by them as often they are phishing emails. If the email is genuine it will be on your account on my ebay, but if unsure then contact ebay direct. |
