We all think the upholstery competition is a good idea, but with reflection I'm beginning to think that it's too short a notice. What I propose is that we use this competition as a dummy run for another, bigger, competition between January and June next year.
Ruth and I want our competition to be an enjoyable experience for all and you only find the problems and glitches with experience so, even though it's now going to be a dummy run, please can forum members go through the motions with this first competition so we can learn what's right and what needs changing to make the Jan - June competition as good and prestigious an event as possible for you and for us.
I have been in touch with some glossy magazines and hopefully will be able to offer really worthwhile prizes - if, of course, the honour of being the winner of an oldsofas Gold or Silver award is not enough!!
Please let me know what you think - we'll do whatever popular forum opinion dictates.

Yeah me and all. Hello there.
I'm glad you're going to put the competition off 'cos I haven't got very far with restoring the art deco chair yet! Hi David, I found a piece of right-angled copper tubing to fit that broken corner of spring unit, but haven't got much further than that. And pretty soon the crimbo rush will start up - I can pretty much write off December for getting anything much done outside of working. So, maybe in the new year. I can enter my drop-in chair though. Mind you I just had a look at those two chairs that are entered, they look great. To everyone else, hello I'm new. I'm an Essex girl born and bred and I'm a Royal Mail Delivery Officer in my spare time when I'm not trying to work out how to mend chairs. Beat that for a job title! Anyhoo...remember, it's not procrastination, it's forward planning.
bye!

Well - the dummy here has finally submitted her entry. Given that Jean has been the only one so far to make an entry - I can at least claim that I made it a competition - without me there might not have been one! Hee hee Come on everyone - where are you??? I might not be good but I am there SueD |

Not sure it is a competition yet as I suspect your buttoned chair is in the open class and mine in the simple upholstered seat with back pad one.
Come on all of you. Let's have some more entries.
Well done Sue D. You've inspired me to get started with the button back chair I have waiting for final fabric. I love buttoning but not for other people! Time to bite the bullet and get on with it I think! Jean
