Hello all, Piper here. I live in the U.S. I've been upholstering a short time, but I am loving it. Just officially joined the forum, but I've been reading with pleasure all your entries for some time. So nice to have a place to sound off and ask questions. Thanks for being here, and I look forward to chiming in when appropriate.
Best to all. |

Hi, My name is Margot and I live in East Lothian, Scotland. I just found your site by chance this afternoon. I have been upholstering for 3 years now and have completed 6 classes with a wonderful lady called Rose. My 1st attempt was a rocking chair & footstool, then a victorian childs chair (I have the before & after photos if you let me know how to post them), a campaign chair (when stripped we discovered that it was originally caned so I have nearly completed the seat & then its the turn of the back), a nursing chair (lots of photos) and I am now doing a wing back chair in tartan!!! My most difficult chair yet and I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge, today having put the top fabric on the arms and tomorrow its the turn of the wings!! |

Welcome Margot! I'm in Perth and have a very talented lady in my class also called Margot - she has just completed a small chair in tartan and it looks great! Must be something in the name.
If you want to send in the photos then email them to david@oldsofas.com and he'll post them up for you. good luck with the wing chair.

| What is it about 6 October 2006? Have you seen how many members joined that day? Not that they've necessarily posted anything. |

Didn't you know? October 6th is national 'Join an Unholstery Forum Day' (well they have one for everything else - so why not? You have to join the forum and then go into the street waving copies of David & Ruth's book, wearing only hessian and a horsehair hat. Shoes made of webbing are optional. I unfortunatley lost the photos of me - the camera's batteries lost their power - shamne, never mind. There's always next year? |
